ADULT BALLET & STRETCH CLASSES with Kristine Izak
We are so excited to offer Adult Ballet/Stretch classes for the 2025/2026 Season. This class will be geared for beginners, and those who haven't danced since their youth. You will be encouraged to work at your own pace, with options for modifying all exercises and stretches. The class will be based on Ballet Technique, utilizing the barre, center, and across the floor exercises famous for creating long, lean muscles, core strength, balance, flexibility and grace in movement. Focus will be on dance as an art form and not necessarily a workout class, although if done correctly, you will certainly feel it! You will also engage both your mind and memory in a new and fun way as you learn ballet steps and combinations from week to week. The hour class will include 10 - 15 minutes of stretching.
WHY BALLET DANCE? Taking a weekly ballet class that combines technique and stretching offers adults a graceful way to improve both physical and mental well-being. Ballet enhances posture, flexibility, and core strength, while the structured movements promote balance and coordination. The stretching component helps release tension and increase mobility, making everyday activities easier and more fluid. Beyond the physical benefits, ballet provides a creative outlet and a sense of discipline that can boost confidence and reduce stress—making it a rewarding practice for adults of all ages! Come dance with us!
BALLET CLASS DANCE ATTIRE
If you are comfortable wearing the traditional ballet class wear of a leotard, tights, ballet slippers and soft ballet skirt, please do! Leggings/yoga pants are also acceptable, but best if these don't flare and cover your feet. Your comfort is most important, so if you have a question or concern, just ask the instructor.
Soft ballet slippers, leather or canvas are best. However, if you prefer, you can also wear a soft jazz shoe with a small heel for class. The small heel can help if you have tendon issues or need a little cushion. Contact us for help ordering these!
Please pull your hair up off your neck in a clip, bun or ponytail. This helps the instructor assess your posture and placement and help you get the most out of your ballet class.
BALLET CLASS - OPTIONAL PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITY
Beginning in Session Three - Jan. 2026 - we will be extending the class an additional 15 minutes to learn choreography and set placement for our June Recital! This is only an option and not required to register. Costumes will be ordered at the end of 2025, so you would have to let your instructor know by Dec. 1 if you will be performing. There will be an additional charge for the 15 min., and will be reflected in your tuition statements in 2026.
More information on Recital Fees (which allow you unlimited seating) and Costume Payments will be given at the first class.
