Student Evaluation

Every student is evaluated throughout the year. We understand that children take dance classes for various reasons. Some take dance for recreation, and some for social reasons and others may desire a career in dance. Our staff works together to place each student every year at a level that is both appropriate and challenging. Our schedule accommodates a variety of levels and dance styles to interest every student from beginner to advanced and toddler to teen.

Our Class Leveling System

After Creative Dance and Beginner Tap/Ballet, combination classes of tap, ballet and jazz are offered through Level 6. Students then progress to our Roman numeral level classes. Students are given the opportunity to select which style of dance that they wish to continue, and these classes are taught in hour formats. Modern Fusion is offered to students in Roman Numeral ballet classes. Pointe classes are offered to students upon teacher recommendation only.

We welcome students with prior dance experience!

Dancers with previous experience will be invited to attend a level class deemed by our staff to be appropriate for their age and experience. It is possible that the dancer will be recommended to try additional classes to find the best fit for them at our studio.

There is no charge for one trial class, and these are limited to one of each dance style. If the dancer registers after the first trial class, no extra payments will be charged for additional trial classes. If the dancer is undecided about registering after the first trial classes, a class fee will be charged for any and all additional trial classed taken.

FYI Adult Dance Program

BALLET

Ballet classes improve strength, flexiblity, poise and control. Warmup barre exercises progress to more challenging center work. The emphasis is on grace and musicality.

JAZZ

Energetic and expressive, jazz dance focuses on rhythmic movement with various body isolations. Most of the dancing you see in films and on Broadway is based on jazz dance.

TAP

In tap, the emphasis is on footwork and the expression of rhythm through sound. Students practice control, coordination, and agility while getting caught up in the pure pleasure of making music with their feet.

MODERN FUSION

Modern dance technique is the basis of this class, which also incorporates lyrical and contemporary dance vocabulary. Students tone, and strengthen, while exploring movement concepts such as contract/release, and fall/recovery.

HIP HOP

Hip-hop means the whole culture of the movement... how you act, walk, look, dance are all part of the hip-hop culture. Whatever music gives you the grunt...the funk...that groove or the beat.... it's all part of hip-hop.

POINTE

For Roman numeral ballet students only. Pointe technique prepares dancers to dance 'en pointe' safely and correctly. Class by recommendation only.

CREATIVE DANCE

These classes are for preschool dancers, giving them a well-rounded introduction to ballet and tap dancing, exercise, creative movement and tumbling. In a loving and supportive classroom environment, children enjoy learning while interacting with their young peers. Children must be registered for the entire year. Dancers need both ballet and tap shoes.

JUMP FOR JOY

Dance Program For Children with Down Syndrome

Our Jump for Joy program offers the perfect learning environment for children with Down Syndrome. Classes are designed specifically for maximum benefit and maximum fun! Combinations of ballet, jazz, tap and lyrical dance concepts are taught throughout the year. This is a free scholarship program.
